
Strykers Defeat Pump Jacks 15-5;Have Cancer Awareness Night

Tomorrow night is our Cancer Awareness Night.
The Woodlands Strykers played the East Texas Pump Jacks tonight for the first of two games. The Strykers took advantage of some Pump Jack Errors to take the game 15-5. The two teams will meet again Friday at 7:05 for Cancer Awareness Night.
Robert Heep would score the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly in the first inning by Kevin Santana. In the third inning, the Strykers would get another when Bobby Schuman would lead the inning off with a fielder's choice and score on a single by Heep. In the fifth inning, the team put five runs on the board including a two run homerun by Dirk Masters that would score him and Kevin Santana. The team would score six runs in the seventh before scoring the final two runs of the game in the eighth inning off a Brian Smith homerun that would plate Smith and Taska.
Will Hibbs started for the Strykers. He pitched 4.2 innings, gave up a run and struck out five batters. Martin Cronin pitched 2.1 innings and would pick up the win. Gandy Stubblefield would come in for the final two innings of work and strike out three batters.
Tomorrow night's game will be Cancer Awareness Night at the game. "Cancer has affected so many people," Assistant GM Lance Drake said. "It has affected me personally and we wanted to put on a night to raise awareness". The team will be selling "pink" Woodlands Strykers wristbands for $5. Half of the proceeds made off the sale of the bracelets will be donated to the American Cancer Society. The American Cancer Society will have representatives at the game, and their will be a special guest taking part in the first pitch.
The game Friday is scheduled for 7:05 from Strykers Stadium at The Woodlands Christian Academy. The game is also a Family Friday with Free Kids Admission(ages 3-11) and postgame autographs.
