The Generals took on the Saginaw Spirit tonight for the second and last time this season with a 5-2 win. The first time these two teams met this season, the Generals defeated the Spirit 8-5. The Generals had an energetic start in the first twenty minutes with three goals in less than 12 minutes. Oshawa killed off an early penalty drawn to Tobias Lindberg and bounced back with a goal from Josh Brown, assisted by Sam Harding and Joe Manchurek. The pressure continued from Oshawa and Cirelli snagged a second goal with assists by Michael Dal Colle and Stephen Templeton. Only 18 seconds later, Josh Sterk and Aidan Wallace fed Dal Colle and made it 3-0, giving him 13 points within 15 games played. Ovsjannikov replaced Serebryakov in net after three goals against. Saginaw opened up the second period on a power play. However, Oshawa managed to fight off the penalty. A check to the head by Chase Stewart on Mitchell Vande Sompel put Oshawa on the power play five minutes in but the Generals couldn't get anything past Ovsjannikov. The Spirit continued to dominate the period but it was the Generals who outplayed them on the scoreboard. With only three minutes left in the period, Michael Turner's snapshot from Brown and Vande Sompel found the net and made the game 4-1. Just over a minute later, Cirelli snagged his second of the night with assists from Sterk and Dal Colle. By the end of the period, Saginaw still had more shots on net at 38- 26 but the Generals held the lead at 5-1.
There wasn't too much action in the third period for either team. An early penalty to Brown for a check from behind gave Saginaw a one-man advantage but Oshawa was able to fend off their opponents. After many shots on Appleby, Dylan Sadowy of Saginaw gave the Spirit their second goal of the night, with assists by Connor Brown and Kris Bennett. Oshawa kept their defensive game strong and didn't let any more goals in their net. Although Saginaw outshot the Generals 38-26, Oshawa pulled off another win tonight.
