Gems Host Successful Ladies Night & Donate $4,500 To Area Women's Charities
February 22, 2012 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Dayton Gems News Release
Dayton, OH - The Dayton Gems professional hockey team, a proud member of the "AA" Central Hockey League, took time to step away from the rink to present the second annual Dayton Gems Ladies Night Tuesday inside the Hara Arena Conference Center.
The Gems treated over 100 ladies to an evening to remember, which included a vendor fair featuring the event's sponsor, Today's Headlines Salon & Day Spa. The ladies in attendance were also treated to a "behind the scenes" tour of the team's official dressing room and workout facilities guided by Gems players as well as a special hands-on shooting demonstration and casual networking session to meet their favorite player in person.
After dinner, the much anticipated Gems player bachelor auction took center stage in the Conference Center, with 16 eligible players auctioned off in a lighthearted and entertaining fashion. After strutting their stuff on the catwalk, the players helped raise funds for local causes through the bidding process, with the lucky winning lady earning dinner and bowling with their chosen player next week.
In related news, the Gems also announced that they have donated $4,500 towards breast cancer awareness as a result of the team's successful "Pink in the Rink" game on February 11. Three local women's health organizations participated in this year's event, with the Women's Wellness Fund at Kettering Medical Center joining The Noble Circle Project and Pink Ribbon Girls of Dayton in receiving $1,500 each to continue their mission of raising hope and awareness for this disease. Proceeds from the special Gems pink game-worn jersey auction, Gems Go Pink calendar sales and Ladies Night bachelor auction went towards the donation total.
The Gems return to the ice with three straight games inside the historic Hara Arena. The Gems host the Missouri Mavericks for "Millionaire Night" this Friday, while Saturday night's game against the Arizona Sundogs is scout night and deaf awareness night, with Fairborn's Baker Middle School sign language club performing the National Anthem in American Sign Language prior to the opening faceoff at 7pm. The Gems close out the weekend with an afternoon matinee against the Evansville IceMen at 4pm.
Tickets to all three games this weekend are on sale now at the Hara Arena box office, Ticketmaster, and by calling the Gems ticket office at 275-7777. Discounts are available for groups of ten or more. Visit www.DaytonGems.com for more information.
