The New Orleans Zephyrs defeated the visiting Omaha Royals on Thursday by a score of 9-5.
DH Jake Gautreau hit a three-run home run in the eighth inning to put the game away for New Orleans. It was Gautreau's only hit of the game.
Catcher Mike DiFelice also drove in three runs for the Zephyrs, as he finished 2-3 with a run scored as well.
Reliever Tim McNab (1-0), who just joined the Zephyrs today from Double-A Binghamton, gets his first Triple-A win after allowing only one run on three hits in the final three innings of play.
Starter Jason Vargas went six innings and gave up four runs on seven hits, though only one run was earned.
Omaha reliever Roberto Giron (0-4) gets the loss after giving up four runs on three hits in only 2.1 innings of relief.
The win ties the series at 1-1. It's a three-game set, so the teams will play the final game of the series on Friday in a game scheduled for 7:00 PM CT. The game will be televised live on CST Channel 37.
