PORTLAND, Ore. - Portland Beavers infielder Craig Stansberry today was selected to represent the World Team in the 2007 XM Satellite Radio All-Star Futures Game, which will be held at AT&T Park in San Francisco on Sunday, July 8.

The game begins at 1 p.m. (Pacific) and will be broadcast live on ESPN2. The exhibition will help kick off Taco Bell All-Star Sunday, the first of three days of All-Star events that will culminate in the 78th All-Star Game in San Francisco on Tuesday, July 10.

Major League Baseball, in conjunction with all 30 clubs, works with Baseball America and MLB.com to determine the players invited to the kickoff event. Each of the 30 major league organizations is represented, and the Futures Game annually showcases the top up-and-coming minor league players.

Stansberry, who was born in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, currently leads the Beavers in doubles (23), runs scored (42) and RBIs (46), and is batting .312 with two triples, seven home runs and 25 walks through the team's first 72 games. The infielder also ranks among Pacific Coast League leaders in doubles and extra-base hits (32).

The five-year professional is in his first season with the Beavers and the San Diego Padres organization after being claimed off waivers from Pittsburgh on Dec. 20, 2006.

Recent Beavers selected to play in the Futures Game include: Sean Burroughs (2001), Dennis Tankersley (2001), Khalil Greene (2003), Tim Stauffer (2004), Josh Barfield (2005) and George Kottaras (2006).

Hall-of-famers Dave Winfield (U.S. Team) and Juan Marichal (World Team) will serve as managers in this year's Futures Game.
