Carrasco Solid In Sidewinders Victory

Tucson, AZ - Sidewinders RHP D.J. Carrasco threw six innings without giving up an earned run while striking out three as the Sidewinders won 6-2 on Thursday night. Tucson 2B Brian Barden was 2-for-4 on the night, including his first home run of the season, and RF Alex Romero added three more hits in the victory. Romero now has a team leading 29 multi-hit games, including 11 with three hits.

Tucson struck first in the bottom of the first inning. Following singles from SS Alberto Callaspo and Romero, 1B Chris Carter hit his 22nd double of the season scoring Callaspo and moving Romero to third. Romero then scored on a ground out by CF Jeff Salazar.

The Sidewinders bats remained steady throughout the game, scoring a run in each of the 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 8th innings.

Tucson had five starters with multi-hit games, including Barden, Romero, Carter, DH Jason Smith, and 3B Robby Hammock. Smith's night included his first home run with the Sidewinders, a blast to right field in the eighth.

Carrasco's ERA dropped below five with his impressive performance.

The Sidewinders will face Salt Lake on Friday night for the final game of the series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM. The game will air live on COOL 1450 beginning at 6:50 p.m.
