Hickory, NC - The Texas Rangers announced today that Hickory Crawdads outfielder Chris Garia has been promoted to the Frisco RoughRiders (Class AA), becoming the second 'Dad this season to move up in the Rangers organization.

Garia, 23, was a key member of the Crawdads speedy running attack, with the outfielder swiping 11 bases in 13 attempts while helping the club to a league-leading 113 steals. The switch hitter leaves Hickory batting .238 with 4 home runs, 3 triples, 5 doubles, and 13 RBI in 33 games. Signed by the Rangers as an international free agent in 2009, Garia also played for the 'Dads in 2013 where he batted .156 with 2 triples, 6 RBI, and 6 stolen bases in 26 games.

OF Jose Almonte has also been added to the Crawdads active roster from Extended Spring Training. Almonte hit .281 with 4 HR and 14 RBI in 30 games with the 'Dads this year.

Garia is the second Crawdad in 2016 to earn a promotion, joining RHP Tyler Davis who was sent to the High Desert Mavericks (Class-A Advanced) in May.
