Hamilton Tiger-Cats News Release
Hamilton, Ontario - The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that they have signed import wide receiver Talman Gardner.
"Talman is a player with size, speed and great hands who has the chance to step in and be a contributor for us right away," said general manager Marcel Desjardins. "I know there were high expectations for him last year but an injury during camp prevented him from showing what he's capable of. This year, at 100 per cent, we're excited to see what he can do."
Gardner, a 6-1, 205-pound native of New Orleans, Louisiana returns to Hamilton after attending training camp last season. Prior to joining the Ticats, he spent three seasons (2003-05) with the NFL's New Orleans Saints playing in 21 games and starting two. During his collegiate career at Florida State he recorded a total of 90 catches for 1,595 yards and returned 28 kicks for 608 yards. Gardner ranks 10th on the school's all-time list with 19 touchdowns, 11 of which he recorded in 2001 - the fifth-highest single-season total in school history.
The Ticats also announced that they have released non-import offensive lineman Marc Pilon.
