Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release
WINNIPEG, MB - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers added a former CFL All-Star today with the signing of free agent defensive tackle Nate Davis.
As per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"When you have an opportunity to add a player of Nate Davis' caliber you can't really pass it up," said Bombers G.M. Brendan Taman.
"He is a proven CFL-caliber player who can disrupt what teams are trying to do on the other side of the line of scrimmage. His addition will provide us with another quality option to choose from along the defensive line."
Davis (6-5, 293, Indiana, DOB: Feb. 6, 1974 in Detroit, Mich.) played the previous six CFL seasons with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. In 2006, he started in 16 regular season games for the Roughriders and registered four quarterback sacks, 20 defensive tackles and one tackle for a loss. He also started in both of Saskatchewan's playoff games.
Davis was a CFL All-Star in 2004 and a West Division All-Star in 2003 and '04. He had one of his best CFL seasons in '03 when he was credited with 10 quarterback sacks, 32 defensive tackles and two tackles for losses in 17 games with Saskatchewan. In '04, he registered eight quarterback sacks, 20 defensive tackles, one tackle for a loss and two fumble recoveries in 18 games for the Roughies.
