Augusta GreenJackets News Release

North Augusta, SC: The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of San Francisco Giants, won 3-2 against the Lexington Legends on Wednesday night.

The game was scoreless through the first four innings with only a handful of hits by both teams. The Legends were able to strike for their first run off of Caleb Baragar in the fifth inning. This would be the only blemish for Baragar, as he went five innings giving up only two hits, while striking out six Legends.

With the GreenJackets down 1-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Ryan Kirby would hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Jacob Gonzalez from third base. Then in the seventh inning, Jeffry Parra would score on a passed ball from third base to give the GreenJackets the 2-1 lead.

Lexington would have an answer, scoring one of their own in the top of the eighth inning. This would tie the game at two, heading to the bottom of the inning.

With two quick outs, Orlando Garcia stepped up to the plate in the bottom of the eighth inning. He would drive a solo home run over the left field wall to give the GreenJackets a 3-2 lead. This was his fifth home run of the season.

The lead would hold, after a Camilo Doval save in the top of the ninth to secure victory. Game two of the series will be tomorrow night at 7:05 pm at SRP Park.

Tomorrow at SRP Park will we have Thirsty Thursday and The CSRA's Biggest Sock Hop!
