FLORENCE, KY. - Jacinto Garcia paved the way and tossed a complete game to give the Normal CornBelters (29-30) a 7-3 win over the Florence Freedom (31-30) on Wednesday night and force a rubber match tomorrow.

"Jacinto has been fantastic for us all year, he has always stepped up. He has been the guy that after two, three, or four-game skid and every time he takes the bump, he gives us a quilty start and a chance to win. He did exactly that tonight and that is what this ball club needed," said Manager Billy Horn.

Jacinto Garcia (4-2) battled out of a bases-loaded jam in the first and limited Florence to one run. His first two hits he gave up came in the first. After his rocky first, the righty retired the next 22 batters in a row. He entered the ninth with a two-hitter and retired the first two batters before the Freedom got to him and scored two runs to make it 7-3. His complete game sets a new season high for him in innings, as his previous was seven. In Garcia's last four starts he has only allowed six runs.

Normal put runners on the first three innings and finally found a way to drive them in the fourth. Michael Baca brought in Justin Fletcher and J.J. Bissell on a two-out single to take the lead 2-1. The CornBelters then added two more runs off a home run by Derrick Loveless to go up 4-1 in the fifth.

The new Frontier League hit king; Santiago Chirino gave the Belters an insurance run in the sixth with a double to bring in Baca. In the seventh, Baca again was part of the offense mix with two outs. He knocked his third hit and RBI of the game to give the CornBelters a 6-1 lead. He now has five RBI in his last three games.

Andrew Godbold was finally part of the offense in the eighth. He picked up his first to stretch the lead to 7-1 as the Normal bats scored seven unanswered runs starting back in the fourth.

The Belters knocked a total of 15 hits in the middle game of the series. Which included six players totaling for multi-hit games.

With the win tonight, Normal forces a rubber match tomorrow at 6:35 p.m. and will send Zack Kirby on the mound against his former club to get the Belters back to .500.
