KANSAS CITY, Kan. - A five-run fifth inning behind the concrete pitching of Shaun Garceau solidified the T-Bones' 6-4 victory in the series finale against the Laredo Lemurs at CommunityAmerica Ballpark on Sunday night.

Both teams were scoreless until the fifth inning, when the T-Bones sent 10 to the plate and scored five. After Steve Yoo knocked in Ray Sadler with a single, Yoo scored on a two-out triple to the right-field corner by Kennard Jones. Three consecutive walks later by starter David Newmann (3-2), Brandon Jones delivered a two-RBI single that gave Kansas City a comfortable lead.

That 5-0 cushion was all that Garceau (1-5) needed. He cruised through most of the game, with the exception of the seventh, when former T-Bones infielder Jimmy Mojica hit a three-run home run. Overall, Garceau gave up four runs and struck out six in eight innings.

"He threw great," said T-Bones manager Kenny Hook. "He made some mistakes in the seventh, but other than that, he was dominant."

The win gives Kansas City (15-21) the series victory, two games to one, over Laredo. After losing six straight, the T-Bones have won two consecutive as they begin a seven-game road trip on Monday. The first four are at Gary SouthShore, beginning at 7:10 Monday night.

"These two wins are huge because we need to win series to make up some ground in the division," said Hook. "If we can win series and get back to .500, we can make a serious run for the division."
