Tri-City Storm News Release
Kearney, NE. - The Tri-City Storm go for a season high seventh consecutive win tonight at the Viaero Center following a 5-3 defeat of the Chicago Steel last night. In last night's game, Tri-City got goals from Zac Jones, Joe Berg, Ronnie Attard, and Keaton Pehrson. Tonight's home game promotion is "70's Night", there will be a postgame jersey auction and a post-game player autograph session. Puck drop for tonight's game is scheduled for 7:05pm.
Tri-City (35-9-1-1) has won nine of its last ten games, and seeks a season sweep over the Chicago Steel in tonight's game at the Viaero Center. In last night's victory, Tri-City improved to 12-1-0-1 over Eastern Conference teams, and now holds a record of 18-3-1-0 on home ice. Following the 5-3 win on home ice last night, Tri-City is now 20-1-0-1 when leading after the 1st period, and a perfect 28-0 when leading after the 2nd period. Following a two-goal performance last night, Ronnie Attard is now just one point behind Muskegon's Alex Yakovenko for the USHL lead in points by a defenseman during the 2018-2019 regular season. Attard leads all defenseman with 22 goals scored, and also has 22 assists for 44 points on the season. Filip Forsmark has recorded an assist in six consecutive games, and currently holds the assists streak of any player in the USHL. Following tonight's game, Tri-City will hit the road for two games next weekend against the Sioux Falls Stampede.
Chicago (27-16-1-0) enters tonight's game as the 2nd place team in the Eastern Conference standings despite last night's road loss to Tri-City. The Steel now trail Eastern Conference leading Muskegon by 14 points and have now dropped back to back games. Chicago will look to split the season series for the 3rd consecutive season. Tri-City swept the two game season series over the Steel in 2015-2016. After last night's game, Chicago is now 12-9-1-0 in road games this season. The Steel's offense was limited to three goals last night but continues to be one of the most prolific offenses in the USHL. Only Muskegon has scored more goals this season than Chicago, and Steel forward Nick Abruzzese leads the league with 60 points in 44 games played this season. Like Tri-City last weekend, Chicago is playing a three-game weekend with all the games on the road. The Steel will travel to Ralston, NE tomorrow for a road game against the Omaha Lancers.
