The Niagara IceDogs were hosts to the Ottawa 67s tonight as they hosted their first Autism Awareness game, in support of Autism Ontario's Niagara Region branch. Following the game, all game-worn jerseys were put up for auction, in-arena and online. All proceeds went towards Autism Ontario Niagara.
A fast-paced first period ended in a scoreless tie, despite the 'Dogs dominating on the shot clock. The game took an intense turn in the second period, re-igniting the rivalry that always makes a game between the 'Dogs and the 67s exciting to watch. The physical play opened the game up for both teams to take more offensive chances, but each of the goalies made big saves when their teams needed them. 60 minutes wasn't enough, the 'Dogs and 67s headed to overtime. The 67s capitalized with less than 10 seconds to go in the overtime period.
