Charlottetown Islanders News Release

Sadly for Patrick Guay, his return to Sherbrooke didn't go quite as well as Simoneau's return to Drummondville. The PhÅ"nix were able to fend off the Isles late in the third to edge them out 3-2. It wasn't all bad for the Islanders in the losing efforts however, Sam Bowness was able to break the ice early in the game for his first career QMJHL goal. It took the Clyde River native eight appearances to get his first tally with the Isles. As well Drew Elliott got on the board with just over a minute left in the final frame to inch the Islanders close, unfortunately just not close enough. Now, Charlottetown's sights turn to Blainville-Boisbriand where the Armada are awaiting the Islanders arrival for some Saturday night action!

So far this season the Armada are sitting just a couple of games over .500 hockey at 8-6-0-0. They played last night as well when they took on the Drummondville Voltigeurs, it was a tight game all the way to the end but the Armada prevailed 7-6 in overtime off of a Miguel Tourigny hat trick. The win last night comes off of back-to-back losses at the hands of the Shawinigan Cataractes. Despite their mediocre record, the Armada feature some high-level scorers, their best currently being Tourigny. Miguel Tourigny is a 2002 born defenseman out of Victoriaville, Quebec. Tourigny is currently off to the hottest start of his QMJHL career sporting eleven goals and ten assists to this point for 21 points in fourteen games. Miguel is only four goals away from tying his career-high at this point in the season.

The Islanders now look to come out of Quebec on a high note as they are currently sitting at 1-1 in the French province. Noah Laaouan picked up another assist last night keeping him at the top of the QMJHL for assists on the season. Laaouan keeps one ahead of Xavier Bourgault from Shawinigan and Theo Rochette of the Remparts. We will also most likely be seeing Oliver Satny between the pipes tonight as the goalie swapping has been the system for Hulton thus far in the season. Satny currently sits in second place for GAA amongst QMJHL goalies rocking an even 2.00 GAA. With an appearance tonight it would mark Satny's sixth start of the season, he currently holds a 4-1 record for the Islanders.

Key players to look out for tonight will be number 81 Xavier Simoneau and number 51 Lukas Cormier. Last night saw tempers flare as Xavier Simoneau dropped the gloves with Paul Dore, a rare event for Simoneau in which he was also given the instigator penalty. Last night was the first time Simoneau has been held off the score sheet this season for games he's been active in, so you can count on him being hungry this evening. Cormier has been held off the score sheet the last few games sitting still with seven goals and seven assists on the season for fourteen points. Eyes should be on number 51 this evening to help generate more offense for the Islanders than last night in Sherbrooke.

Puck drop is set for 5 pm Island time this evening against the Armada, where the Isles will look to get back in the win column and improve on their 9-5-1-0 record.
