Charlottetown Islanders News Release
Unfortunately for the Isles and their fans, the win streak has come to an end. Patrick Roy was able to turn his team around Friday night after a hard loss the evening before at the hands of the Moncton Wildcats. The Remparts sounded off with four goals on the night. Oliver Satny faired out well in a big game stopping 32 of 35 shots he faced before the Remparts added an empty netter. In a loss, there can still be positives to be found and Satny's performance was a positive, unfortunately, the Isles were unable to ever find that equalizer goal to swing the momentum in their favor. Now, the Isles gear up for some matinee action today as the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada continue their Maritime tour now entering the Eastlink Centre.
So far on their Maritime adventure, the Armada sit at 1-0-1-0. Friday night they claimed a 7-1 victory over the Cape Breton Eagles, and last night they were taken down by the Halifax Mooseheads in overtime 5-4. To this point on the season, the Armada are being led by star-defenseman Miguel Touringy. Touring is in his hottest season yet as a QMJHL player, he has posted 31 points in 21 games including tying his single-season goal record at 15 just last night. The Armada defenseman is also just five points away from his single-season points record sitting at 36. Number 89 will definitely be one for Islanders fans to keep an eye on as the Armada look to end their Maritime travels on a high note.
The Isles will look to reactivate their offense this afternoon after being held to just one goal against William Rousseau Friday night. Scoring hasn't been a problem for Isles since their little four-game drought after starting the season off quick at 3-0-0-0. It was Patrick Guay recording his fourteenth goal of the year as the lone Isles tally against Quebec. Xavier Simoneau was the silky mitts on that play dishing a sweet saucer pass cross-ice to Guay for the powerplay one-timer. That assist marked point number 35 for Simoneau as well as keeping him two assists ahead for the league lead in that category. You can expect Simoneau and Guay to be a key part in getting the Isles back to the winning column this afternoon.
The season series is currently in the Islanders favor 1-0 after a nice comeback win in their first meeting over in Blainville. With the Armada sure to be hungry to leave the Maritimes on a high note, and Charlottetown wanting to bounce back to life quickly, the Eastlink Centre should be ready for a high-rolling affair. The puck drops at 3 pm.
Tickets are available at the Eastlink Centre Box Office in person (Monday to Friday 11 am to 5 pm) as well as before game time, online, or by phone at 902.629.6625. Make sure to get your tickets early and come on out to help your boys in black and harvest gold protect the bridge.
