Brampton Steelheads News Release
The Steelheads will close out four straight games on the road tonight as they visit the Erie Otters. In their last three games, the Steelheads are 2-1-0-0, picking up wins against Hamilton and Sudbury with a loss to Sault Ste. Marie in between. The Otters are coming off a loss on Saturday night to. the Windsor Spitfires. The loss was only the second regulation loss of the season for the Otters, falling 6-4 on home ice. The Steelheads are coming off a commanding 5-1 win over the Sudbury Wolves on the road. Damian Bourne and Thomas Lattavo each had two-goals on the night, with Michael McLeod closing out the scoring with his fifth of the season.
The Otters currently sit second in the Midwest Division behind the Kitchener Rangers. With the help of Alex DiBrincat, the Otters are 13-2-1-0 and have only lost two regulation games. DiBrincat, who is on a point-per-game streak dating back to October 28th, is a highly-touted prospect for the upcoming 2016 NHL Entry Draft and currently leads the league in scoring with 32 points (22 goals, 10 assists) in 15 games.
The Steelheads (9-8-0-2) are second in the Central Division behind the Barrie Colts (11-6-0-2). Alexander Nylander currently leads the Steelheads with 24 points (10 goals, 14 assists) in 19 games. He also leads the league in rookie scoring.
The Otters will come to Mississauga on November 27th for their second and final meeting of the regular season.
After tonight's game against the Otters, the Steelheads will be back on home ice to host the Windsor Spitfires on Friday at the Hershey center. The Spitfires (12-4-3-0) are currently first in the West Division.
Notables
This is the first time the Steelheads face the Otters this season; The Otters came out on top in both meetings last season.
Otters Forward Alex DiBrincat currently leads the league in scoring with 32 points.
Alex Nylander currently leads the league in rookie scoring with 24 points.
Ryan McLeod and Owen Tippett return to the Steelheads line up after a winning Gold with Canada White at the U17 Hockey Challenge. With a hat trick in the Gold medal game, Tippett was named to the All-Star team.
Michael and Ryan McLeod will face off against childhood friend and Mississauga native, Dylan Strome.
