FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution (5-3-7, 22 pts.) are set to host Supporters' Shield co-leader Toronto FC (9-2-4, 31 pts.) on Wednesday night at Gillette Stadium. The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET and will air on NBC Sports Boston, with Brad Feldman, Charlie Davies, and Naoko Funayama calling the action. The contest will also air on 98.5 The Sports Hub, with Portuguese commentary available on WBIX 1260 AM Nossa Radio USA.
The Revolution and Toronto FC, currently sitting sixth and second in the Eastern Conference standings, respectively, will square off for the second time this season. New England played the Reds to a scoreless draw in the MLS is Back Tournament on July 21. The Revolution lead the all-time series with Toronto, 13-8-11, with a 10-2-5 mark at home. The Revolution are riding a four-match unbeaten streak into Wednesday's game, with two victories and three clean sheets during that stretch. The club ranks among the league leaders in fewest goals allowed (12) and clean sheets (6), where the Revolution are tied for second and third, respectively. The Revolution's defense has allowed just one goal over the past four games, including an ongoing streak of 184 minutes without conceding a goal.
A pair of Toronto-area natives will help rally New England's attack, as Teal Bunbury enters the game tied for the lead among active Revs with four career goals against Toronto. The Hamilton, Ontario native's four goals and two game winners are both one behind Gustavo Bou's marks of five tallies and three game-winning goals. Brampton, Ontario's Tajon Buchanan, who has logged a career-best four straight starts, helped bolster the offense against Nashville on Saturday with a team-high three shots on target. They will look to combine with Lee Nguyen, who is one appearance away from 250 MLS regular season games played, and one assist shy of becoming the club's first player with 50 goals and 50 assists.
