Game Preview: Gens Return Home After Holiday Break Tonight vs. 67's at 6:05pm

December 30, 2018 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Oshawa Generals News Release

The Generals make their return home tonight after the Holiday break to take on the Ottawa 67's at the Tribute Communities Centre. After grabbing a big 6-2 win in their first game back on Friday night against the Mississauga Steelheads, the Gens record has improved to 21-12-2-0 on the season. Looking to continue the two-point trend, the Gens will aim to take down the 67's at home and head into the new year on a winning note.

Tonight's matchup marks the third time Oshawa will battle Ottawa this season. The first two meetings between the two clubs both ended in a dramatic fashion, with one going into a shootout and the other being decided in overtime. The Generals were able to take home a victory in both of the contests, winning 2-1 in a shootout on the road and 4-3 in OT at home off a goal by Serron Noel. Oshawa will aim to continue their success against the 67's and remain undefeated in their season series against the divisional foes.

The Gens remain near the top of the eastern conference to start the second half of the season. Currently tied in points at 44 with the Sudbury Wolves, the Gens hold fourth place in the east and second in their division. Meanwhile, the Ottawa 67's hold the top spot in the east with a record of 26-6-3-1 on the season. With the fellow east division club in town, Oshawa will aim to take them down and inch closer to the top of the conference with another two points tonight.

A few Gens players had standout performances on Friday night in the team's 6-2 win against the Steelheads and are worth keeping an eye on tonight. Allan McShane started off an offensive third period for the Gens that saw them score 5 goals to erase Mississauga's 2-1 lead heading into the game's final frame. With two third period goals for the forward, McShane had no trouble finding the back of the net and will look to do the same tonight. Serron Noel also had a strong outing on the road, notching a huge 4-point night after potting the final goal of the game and adding 3 assists. With Noel now sitting at 45 points in 35 games, look for the Gens offensive leader to keep adding to his impressive point total in tonight's contest.

Join us at tonight the Tribute Communities Centre for puck drop at 6:05pm to cheer on the Gens against the Ottawa 67's! After tonight's game, the team will go on to ring in the New Year at home against the Kingston Frontenacs on Tuesday afternoon.

Also, tickets for the Oshawa Generals Charity Dinner go on sale tonight! The cost per ticket is $10, with the event being held at Buffalo Wild Wings Oshawa on Wednesday, January 30th at 5:30pm. Don't forget to buy your tickets to meet your Oshawa Generals!
