Game Preview: Gens Open Weekend at Home Tonight vs. Steelheads at 7:35pm

February 22, 2019 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Oshawa Generals News Release

The Generals enter the weekend tonight with a contest against the Mississauga Steelheads at the Tribute Communities Centre. Coming into the game with an incredible seven game winning streak, the Gens record on the season sits at 37-18-3-0 record. Looking to extend their victory streak to eight games, the Gens will have their sights set on a big win at home when the Steelheads roll into town tonight.

Tonight's matchup marks the fourth and final time the Gens will face the Mississauga Steelheads this season. In their three meetings so far, the Gens have a winning record against the Steelheads at 2-1-0-0. With the last game between the two teams resulting in a big 7-4 win for the Gens, Oshawa will look to build off that performance and grab two points in the final game of the season series.

Picking up at least one point in their last ten games, the Gens currently sit at 77 points in 58 games on the season. Their 3-2 shootout win on Monday over the Sudbury Wolves allowed them to clinch a playoff spot and hold onto third place in the eastern conference with the second most points behind only the Ottawa 67's. Meanwhile, the Mississauga Steelheads currently sit in the middle of the pack in the eastern conference, holding fifth place with a season record of 29-21-5-2.

Two Gens players entering tonight's matchup on hot streaks include forwards Brett Neumann and Nando Eggenberger. Coming off a big performance against the Wolves on Monday in which he recorded a 2-point night with a goal and an assist, Neumann has 8 points in his past 6 contests. Look for the forward to head into tonight's game with momentum and aiming to add to his strong point total. Eggenberger is also on a tear as of late, putting up 7 points in his last 4 games that helped him earn the OHL 'On the Run' Player of the Week. After scoring a goal and sealing the victory against the Sudbury Wolves on Monday by burying the shootout winner, keep an eye on Eggenberger as he comes into tonight's game off the clutch performance.

At the game tonight, tickets for the 2019 Oshawa Generals Awards Banquet will go on sale and can be purchased at fan services. Buy your tickets for an amazing evening that includes dinner, awards ceremony, silent auction, autographs, meet and greets and more!

Join us at the Tribute Communities Centre tonight for the 7:35pm puck drop to cheer on the Gens as they battle the Mississauga Steelheads! After tonight, the team will go on to finish off the weekend at home on Sunday evening against the Saginaw Spirit.
