Tonight's Matchup:
The Chicago Express look to avoid a three game sweep at the hands of the Everblades tonight, after falling 7-2 on Wednesday and 4-2 yesterday. The Express have found themselves in a goal-scoring drought, as the team as tallied just 20 goals in their last eight games, for an average of 2.5 goals per game. Chicago has struggled when scoring two or fewer goals, as the team has compiled a record of 2-12-4 in such situations. The Express started last night's game out hot, firing 15 shots on goal in the first period alone, but couldn't solve Florida G John Muse. Special teams played a major role in last night's outcome, as the Everblades score the game winning goal while on the man-advantage in the second period, while Chicago went scoreless in four power play chances.
Express Notes:
D Jonathan Zion, who scored his first goal as a member of the Chicago Express on Saturday, needs just two more goals for 50 in his North American professional career. He currently has 48 goals and 127 assists in 252 North American professional games... Chicago is still without a win against a South Division team, as the Express are now 0-4-1-1 against South Division teams... Chicago has not won a game on the road since defeating the Trenton Titans 4-3 on November 27. Since then, Chicago has played nine games away from home, compiling a record of 0-7-2-0... F Drew Akins made his Chicago debut yesterday, scoring his first professional goal in the second period... G Peter Mannino made his Chicago Express debut yesterday as well... The Express played with 15 skaters last night, one short of the maximum allowed.
Recent Transactions:
