Defense Wins Championships:
This season the Blast defense has allowed only 21 goals while scoring 66 for the 2nd best goal differential in the MASL. William Vanzela leads the league GAA with a 2.33 average and save percentage with a .833%.
2014-15 MASL Defender of the Year, First Team All MASL, and Team Captain Pat Healey anchors the defense which is one of the best in the league again this season. Healey and others, like MASL All Rookie Team selection Onua Obasi, and veteran defender Adriano Dos Santos, continue the long tradition of stout Baltimore defense.
Streaking:
Last season was the first time the Blast reached the halfway point of a season still undefeated. They have a chance to do so again with a win on Friday night.
Vini Dantas, who leads the Blast in points, goals, and assists, has recorded a goal in every game this season. Dantas will continue to push this streak to 10 and 11 this weekend.
The Competition- Waza Flo:
The Waza Flo are led offensively by Leonardo de Oliveira who has 18 points this season on 7 goals and 11 assists. Thiago Goncalves leads the Waza Flo is goals with 8. Goalkeeper Rafael Dias has started every game this season in net for the Waza Flo and enters with a 6.55 GAA and .754 save percentage. The Waza Flo are coached by Jimmy Mortada.
The Competition- Harrisburg Heat:
Kenny Fultz, Christopher Williams, Patrick Thompson, and Val Teixeira all lead the Heat with 6 points each this season. Kenny Fultz and Lucio Gonzaga have scored 4 goals each to lead the Heat offense. Goalkeepers Scott Krotee and Timothy Mehl have split time in net this season. Krotee enters with a 6.55 GAA and Mehl enters with a 9.39. The Heat are coached by Baltimore Blast Hall of Famer, Tarik Walker.
