GAME Preview: Aces Host Storm, Celebrate Pride Night on Thursday

LAS VEGAS - The Las Vegas Aces (8-1) face the Seattle Storm (2-6) for the second time this season on Thursday night at Michelob ULTRA Arena. Tip is at 7 pm PT, and the game will be broadcast on Silver State Sports & Entertainment Network and Amazon Prime. The theme for Thursday is Pride Night, and the first 5,000 fans in attendance will receive a Progress Pride flag. Exclusive Pride merchandise will be available in the arena.

Game Notes, Team & League Stats

Las Vegas and Seattle's first meeting this year was the season opener for both teams, and saw the Aces rout the Storm 105-64 in Seattle. Kelsey Plum and Jackie Young scored 23 points each. Rounding out the six double-digit scorers for the Aces were Chelsea Gray (14), A'ja Wilson (13), Candace Parker (12) and Alysha Clark (10). Wilson grabbed 13 rebounds as the game's lone double-digit rebounder. Jewell Loyd, who was held scoreless in the first period, finished as Seattle's leading scorer (22).

The Aces feature four players averaging double-digit scoring, led by Wilson's 20.1 ppg. Young (19.7 ppg.), Plum (15.0 ppg.) and Gray (14.1 ppg.) round out the list. In contrast, Loyd is scoring approximately a third (24.7 ppg.) of the Storm's 74.8 ppg., and Ezi Magbegor is the only other Storm player in double figures at 13.4 ppg.

The Aces, who shot a WNBA season-best 58.5% from the field in their most recent contest, are shooting a league-high 49.3% over nine games, while Seattle has connected on just 38.8% of its shots. The Aces are also scoring at a league-high clip of 91.3 ppg.

The Aces have scored at least 90 points in 7 of their 9 games this season.

NEXT UP: The Aces host Minnesota (2-7) at 6 pm on Sunday, June 18, at Michelob ULTRA Arena for the second time this season. In their first meeting on May 28, the Aces prevailed 94-73. Young scored a game-high 23 points, Wilson had 21 and Gray notched a double-double with 19 points and 10 assists. Napheesa Collier had 21 points and Jessica Shepard grabbed a game-best 15 boards for Minnesota.
