Today's game is a battle for home ice in the playoffs as the Ice Flyers sit in 4th and have a 1 point lead over the Louisiana IceGators in the SPHL standings. The Flyers are coming off a 4-1 win over the Mississippi RiverKings last night while the IceGators lost to the Mississippi Surge last night. The last time these two teams met was February 16th in the Hangar when the Ice Flyers won 5-3. Pensacola holds the edge in the season series at 5-4.
The Ice Flyers are in 4th with a record of 23-18-3 for 49 points while the IceGators sit in 5th at 22-21-4 and 48 points. The Ice Flyers are 10-10-3 on the road while Louisiana is 12-7-2 at home.

PENSACOLA - The IceFlyers are two wins away from securing a spot in the 2012 playoffs and hope to inch closer with a big W tonight. Corey Milan's overall record now stands at 9-11-3 with a 3.40 goals against average and a .876 save percentage; his record with the Ice Flyers stands at 5-5-1, a 2.80 GAA, and a 0.897 SV%. Jesse Kallechy got his first Ice Flyers start and win last night and now his numbers stand at 7-8-2, a 3.41 GAA, and a 0.899 SV%. Chris Wilson leads the team in scoring, 40 points, and goals, 25. Jordan Chong still leads the team in assists with 26.
The Ice Flyers' power play is now 3rd in the league after connecting twice last night. The PP currently has a success rate of 18.66% with 39 power play goals and only giving up 3 shorthanded goals. The penalty kill was a perfect 4-for-4 last night and sits 5th in the SPHL at 83.04%. The Ice Flyers have given up 29 power play goals but haven't given up one in the past 4 games. They have been able to score 6 shorthanded goals.
The Ice Flyers' next game is Tuesday February 28th when the rival Mississippi Surge come to the Hangar.
LOUISIANA - This game means just as much to the IceGators as it does the Ice Flyers and Louisiana will come out gunning for the win. In the crease the IceGators have Dan Earles and will likely have to pickup up an emergency backup with B.J. O'Brien yet to return from the Greenville Road Warriors of the ECHL. Earles has a record of 9-8-0 to go along with a 3.65 GAA and a 0.877 SV%. Louisiana's leading scorer remains Jason Hill with 64 points. Robert Short holds the lead in goals with 25 while Hill has the team lead in assists with 47.
The IceGators' power play is 4th in the SPHL at 17.79% scoring 45 power play goals on yet also allowing 6 shorthanded goals. Their penalty kill is 7th in the league at 81.09% with 38 power play goals against. The IceGators have managed only 3 shorthanded goals.
After tonight's game the IceGators are off until they head to east Tennessee for a Thursday, Friday set with the Knoxville Ice Bears.
