Mississippi RiverKings News Release

The Mississippi RiverKings dropped their second straight on the road as they fell to the Mississippi Surge 5-3 in Biloxi.

The 'Kings got the scoring started in the second period as Deven Stillar worked his way through the Surge zone before bouncing a puck off the back of Surge netminder Kiefer Smiley to give the visitors the 1-0 lead. Thirty seconds later, Kyle Lundale ripped a shot past Smiley to put the 'Kings up two.

The Surge came back later in the period. Tyler Ruel and Shawn Skelly picked up goals five minutes apart as the game entered the third period ties at two.

The RiverKings took the lead late in the third as Ken Selby scored unassisted with 9:01 left in the game.

But the Surge answered back. Nick Guran tied the game with an unassisted goal just seconds later as let a quick wrist shot go that beat Scott Darling.

With one minute left to play, Collin Reddin let a blast go off the post that deflected onto Guran's stick and into the net to give the Surge the 4-3 edge. Rob Campbell added an empty net goal to end the scoring at 5-3.

The RiverKings return home Tuesday morning for the second Face Off Field Trip presented by Belhaven University for a 10:05am start against the Huntsville Havoc. The game will stream live on radio-memphis.com and the America One television network.
