Daytona Tortugas News Release
[DAYTONA BEACH, FL] Game one of the 2008 Florida State League Eastern Division Playoffs has been postponed mid-contest and will be played tomorrow from the first inning in Palm Beach beginning at 7:05 p.m. Rain started falling in the bottom of the fifth inning with the Cardinals leading the Cubs 4-0. Despite three hours of hard work by the Daytona grounds crew, the field could never re-gain playing condition. With the contest not being far enough into the game to be considered an official game, it will re-start and be played in its entirety from Palm Beach. The Eastern Playoff Series will continue this Thursday (Sept. 4) in Daytona Beach for a Thirsty Thursday beginning at 7:05 p.m..
The first round of the FSL Playoffs is a best of three-games series. If the Cubs advance to the second round, it will be played as a best of five series. The Cubs are in the FSL Playoffs for the first time since 2004. The Cubs finished in a tie with the Tampa Yankees for the League Title due to hurricanes.
Thirsty Thursday includes one-dollar beers and Coca-Cola products all evening long at Jackie Robinson Ballpark. For ticket information please call (386) 257-3172 or log onto www.daytonacubs.com.
