Corpus Christi Hooks News Release

(CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas) - "Baseball? It's just a game - as simple as a ball and a bat. Yet, as complex as the American spirit it symbolizes. It's a sport, business - and sometimes even religion." -Ernie Harwell, "The Game for All America," 1955

Well fans, the wait is over. No more wishing the season was here because Hooks baseball has finally arrived, starting at 2:05 pm today when the Hooks take the field against the San Antonio Missions. Today's game marks the beginning of a nine game home stand at Whataburger Field for the Hooks- which will feature the Missions for a four game series followed by a five game series against the Frisco RoughRiders. Opening Day will also kick off the first of 14 home games played at Whataburger Field this April.

Gates open at noon and "Corpus Christi Hooks Day" will get kicked off with a party in the stadium. Great live music - including the band Latin Influence and mariachis- great food, and family fun are all on the bill for the opening day festivities at Whataburger Field. Fans attending today's game will receive a Hooks' 2006 Schedule Magnet, thanks to the Corpus Christi Caller-Times, and a free computer disc from PeoplePC, complete with prize offers, sweepstakes information and Hooks' ticket offers.

For those of you curious as to what goes on before opening day at Whataburger Field, John Allen from the Caller-Times has created an exclusive on-line tour of the park and its amenities, and a look at the preparation of the Hooks' staff for today's big game. The tour can be viewed by visiting http://caller.com/#.

Recently, the Hooks' administrative staff was introduced to an incredible electronic program that enables them to view the Hooks' schedule on their PC calendar. The program is so useful and easy to use that the Hooks would like to extend the program to anyone who would like to utilize the Hooks' schedule on their personal calendar. For an easy download simply email info@cchooks.com and title the subject "PC Schedule." You will then be sent a link for download and in just a couple of minutes you will have the Hooks' schedule in the palm of your hand (literally, if you download it to a hand-held).
