Sounders FC (3-0-1, 10 points) hits the road Wednesday to face the San Jose Earthquakes (3-1-0, 9 points) at PayPal Park (7:00 p.m. PT / JOEtv, Prime Video, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM) in a matchup of the top two teams in the Western Conference. Seattle is unbeaten to start the 2021 campaign, most recently earning a 2-1 road win on Sunday over the Portland Timbers. Sounders FC has a 13-match unbeaten streak (7-0-6) against the Earthquakes dating back to 2015.
San Jose sits second in the West with nine points from four games so far in 2021, including a 2-1 road win over Real Salt Lake last Friday, featuring a brace from Chris Wondolowski in just 18 minutes as a substitute. Wondolowski has 12 career goals against Sounders FC, the most of any individual Seattle opponent.
Brian Schmetzer's side returns home this Sunday, May 16 to host LAFC at Lumen Field (6:30 p.m. PT / FS1, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
