Seattle Sounders FC News Release
With 25 points through the first 11 games of the season - a club record in the MLS era - first-place Sounders FC (7-0-4, 25 points) hits the road to face the Colorado Rapids (5-3-1, 16 points) on Sunday evening at Dick's Sporting Goods Park (6:00 p.m. PT / JOEtv, Prime Video, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM). Seattle is the eighth team in MLS history to start a season with at least 11 games unbeaten, one shy of matching the league record. The 11-match unbeaten run is also the third longest in club history at any point in a single season, one shy of a 12-match streak in 2018 and two shy of the club record of 13 set in 2017.
Seattle's Raúl Ruidíaz scored his ninth goal of the season in last weekend's home draw with Vancouver, one behind the LA Galaxy's Javier Hernández for the lead for the MLS Golden Boot. Jimmy Medranda also tallied his first Sounders FC goal, while Josh Atencio recorded his first career MLS assist on Ruidíaz's opening strike.
Sounders FC is 18-7-2 all-time against Colorado in MLS regular season action, outscoring the Rapids 49-30, despite dropping the last two meetings. The Rave Green have won all three postseason meetings between the two sides.
Following Sunday's match, midfielder Cristian Roldan is set to join the U.S. Men's National Team for this month's Concacaf Gold Cup. His brother Alex also earned his first career international callup for the Gold Cup, representing El Salvador.
Sounders FC returns to action on Wednesday, July 7 with a home match against Houston Dynamo FC at Lumen Field (6:00 p.m. PT / JOEtv, Prime Video, 950 KJR AM, El Rey 1360 AM).
