Houston Dynamo FC Draw 1-1 with FC Cincinnati
July 3, 2021 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Houston Dynamo FC News Release
HOUSTON - More than 20,000 fans returned to BBVA Stadium this evening for a 1-1 draw between Houston Dynamo FC and FC Cincinnati. Today's match was the first full-capacity game since Feb. 2020.
Dynamo DF Sam Junqua tallied his first assist of the season and sparked the opening goal of the game in the third minute when he found FW Tyler Pasher inside the box. The Canadian forward beat Kenneth Vermeer at the far post for his third goal of the season.
Cincinnati equalized two minutes later after Alvaro Barreal beat Marco Maric at the near post. Geoff Cameron found the forward in space for his second assist of the season.
Junqua forced a save in the 21st minute at the near post after dribbling past two Cincinnati defenders. The 24-year-old made his second consecutive start today after missing the majority of the season navigating the league concussion protocol. Junqua made his 2021 regular season debut in Houston's 1-1 draw at LAFC on June 19.
Maric was called into action in the 44th minute as he denied Isaac Atanga at the near post. The Dynamo shot stopper finished with three saves.
The Dynamo travel to the Pacific Northwest on Wednesday to face the first-place Seattle Sounders FC prior to the international break for the Concacaf Gold Cup. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT and fans can watch the match live on QuestTEXAS ch. 55 in English or TelExitos 47.2 in Spanish.
