Houston Dynamo FC News Release

Houston Dynamo (4-2-1; 13 pts.) at Toronto FC (2-1-4; 10 pts.) Friday, April 28, 2017 - 6:30 p.m. CDT - BMO Field - Toronto, Ontario

HOUSTON- The Houston Dynamo 2017 season has been a tale of home joys and road woes thus far. The Dynamo are 4-0-1 at BBVA Compass Stadium, where they have outscored their opponents 13-5. Away from the friendly confines of home, they are 0-2-0 and have been outscored 6-2. Their next opportunity to pick up road points comes at the stadium that hosted the 2016 MLS Cup Final - Toronto's BMO Field.

Toronto, the defending Eastern Conference champion, comes into Friday night's game having drawn four of their first seven games. Like the Dynamo, they are unbeaten at home with a 1-0-2 mark, including a decisive 3-1 win over a previously-hot Chicago Fire side last Friday night.

Led by 2015 MLS Most Valuable Player Sebastian Giovinco, U.S. Men's National Team captain Michael Bradley and USMNT forward Jozy Altidore, the Reds boast one of the most dangerous attacking units in the league. Giovinco has poured in 42 goals and added 27 assists since joining MLS ahead of the 2015 season; his 69 goals accounted for are by far the most in the league over the last three years. Not to be outdone, Altidore has 26 goals to his credit over the same span, while Bradley serves as the engine of the team, running games from the middle of the park.

Houston will bring its own offensive firepower to the pitch this weekend, led by the league's leading goalscorer in forward Erick "Cubo" Torres. The 24-year-old Mexican international has seven goals in seven starts, including a pair of game-winners. Two major offseason additions, Honduran forwards Romell Quioto and Alberth Elis, have each contributed three goals on the season as Houston has emerged as one of the league's most exciting teams to watch with one of its most potent attacking corps.

The Dynamo kept a clean sheet for the first time this season in last Saturday's 2-0 win over San Jose, and the back line will be aiming to build on that performance this weekend. The center back tandem of Adolfo Machado and Leonardo, two more offseason additions, were reunited on Saturday after Leonardo missed two games due to a hamstring strain. Machado is the only Dynamo player to have played every minute this season, and the Panama international ranks third in the league with 23 headed clearances so far this season.

Following Friday's match, the Dynamo return home for two more games, which will conclude a season-opening stretch of seven of the first 10 games at home. The Dynamo host Orlando City FC on Saturday, May 6 and Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Friday, May 12.
