Sebastian Giovinco Named MLS Player of the Week

SEBASTIAN GIOVINCO NAMED MLS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Toronto FC forward Sebastian Giovinco was named Major League Soccer Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for Week 8 of the 2017 MLS season.

Giovinco's two-goal performance (10th of his career in MLS league play) helped power the Reds to a 3-1 victory over the Chicago Fire this past Friday. He was also named to the MLS Team of the Week for Week 8 and his second half free kick goal in the 82nd minute has been nominated for the Week 8 AT&T Goal of the Week.

Toronto FC's all-time list of MLS Player of the Week honours include: Sebastian Giovinco (Week 8 - 2017, Weeks 20, 22 - 2016 & Weeks 13, 14, 19 - 2015) Jozy Altidore (Week 1 - 2015), Jermain Defoe (Week 2 - 2014), Robert Earnshaw (Week 2 - 2013), Danny Koevermans (Week 17 - 2012 & Week 27 - 2011), Joao Plata (Week 8 - 2011), Dwayne De Rosario (Weeks 5, 10 - 2010), Amado Guevara (Week 10 - 2009) and Chad Barrett (Week 17 - 2009).
