POST GAME QUOTES

Head Coach Latricia Trammell

On if younger players on the bench will receive an opportunity going forward to give the starters a break...

"Well, KB [Kalani Brown] coming off the bench had over 22 minutes. Awak [Kuier] over 13 minutes, so more than she has in the past. But again, when things are working, and there may be some other things involved, so, you just got to do the best we can. But what I love about it is Rike [Arike Ogunbowale] had eight assists, that's a season high for her. And we had balanced scoring, which is really good. I think more for me, it's being able to handle the first punch well, but then when we get hit with the second punch, that's when the adversity hits especially like in the 1:53. And then we kind of get away from what's working and kind of try to win that possession on our own. And so, we've got to continue to just stay locked in and disciplined during that time."

On her thoughts about team performance in the fourth quarter...

"Got to lock in even deeper, you know what I mean and that's what we kept talking about. Got to continue to execute and got to handle the adversity. That's another big thing. Got to play defense. Because I thought we did a really good job, running that zone and getting some steals out of that and turning that into offense. We started getting a little spread out at times, but we've got to have our players competing at a high level for four quarters. And I've mentioned that before. So, it'll definitely will be growth, we're talking about it, which is really good. And now we just got to do it."

On if conversations have happened about more sharing of the ball...In reference to Ogunbowale's shooting percentages in wins/losses...

"Yeah, as I mentioned, she had a season high, lead the team tonight in assists with eight. We had Natasha Howard with 13 points, Teaira McCowan with 14, Arike with 18m, Crystal [Dangerfield] with 18, we had Kalani Brown off the bench with 10. So, there's some good balanced scoring and that's what we like to see. But I think it goes back to executing and not, I'm going to say it again, not playing to avoid losing but playing to win and sticking together when that adversity hits. I think that's the growth area for this team. Because they do want to win, we all want to win, so bad, right? That we got to let the come to us and continue to stay solid every possession.

On what really needs to be homed in on as a team...

"Trust one another. Being able to contain and adjust on the fly. You know, that's something to continue to stick together. You've got to think last season, what they were in 11th there at the end? And we're sixth right now. So, that's improvement. So, we want to continue to focus on those little things and continue to make that a priority and that it's important. I know the other end gets all the glamour, but I just think about this evening too. We forced 12 steals, which was great. We scored 23 points, I believe, off them and so those things we've got to continue. So, there is some brilliance there. But again, we've got it. After we get punched the first time we responded tonight, we get punched the second coming out of half, you know, and that's the part that we've got to continue to lock in and lock in together."

On Veronica Burton status due to only playing 4 minutes...

"Yes, she's good."

On how she can keep players mentally positive after consistent losses...

"We just got to go onward and upward, right, we've just got to continue to enhance the areas that we need to. We'll go back and watch this because I think this is, you know, we always like to say film don't lie, right? So, we've got to go back and watch, let them see it. And we're then just make sure that we're staying positive with one another. Then, we just got to keep fighting. We still have a long season. We're still not even halfway there I don't believe and so, we're just going to continue to work, take this in, and travel to Phoenix in the morning and get ready for the next game.
