At a glance...

Playoff Push: With five matches remaining in the regular season, SAFC sits in fourth place, seven points above the Western Conference playoff line. Should SAFC get the win Saturday against Colorado Springs, it would clinch a spot in the playoffs for its fifth berth in six seasons.

Early Advantage: SAFC is undefeated in 39 straight league matches when leading at halftime, going 34-0-5 in a streak dating back to October 2021.

September's Finest: Midfielder Jorge Hernandez is up for USL Championship Player of the Month after a scorching September which saw him contribute to five of San Antonio's eight goals with three goals and two assists, also creating a league-high 16 chances. His team-leading 11 goals this year are tied for fourth-most in a regular season in SAFC history.

What they had to say:

Head Coach Carlos Llamosa

(On preparing for Colorado Springs...)

"They're a very attacking-minded team. Obviously, when you play those attacking-minded teams, they give out the space behind, so that's something we try to take advantage and see in the other side. As I say, they send a lot of players high, so we have to be really good closing those gaps for those players. They're still dangerous up front, so hopefully we can do what we practice this week tactically against them."

(On feeling confident after the scoreless draw last Saturday...)

"No, the confidence is still intact. You know, I don't feel like it was a stumble from last week. I felt like we did a lot of good things and another good week of practice here in our field, ready to go to a difficult match against Colorado. It's a direct contender, and we know that from now on, every single game is a derby because we play all the teams in our conference. Everybody's fighting for points, everybody's away or ahead of everybody by two, three points, so a win is really important for us, so we concentrate and we grow the momentum from this week's practice to go to Colorado."

SAFC POST-TRAINING QUOTES

Regular Season Training - October 2, 2025

Head Coach Carlos Llamosa

(On feeling confident after the scoreless draw last Saturday...)

(On the undefeated streak against Colorado Springs...)

"Normally, stats are for the books. You know this one is a different game. It doesn't matter how many games we are embedding against them. This is another single game, so I don't want my players to go, 'Oh, we never lost there. We never lost here against them.' No, it's a game that we need the three points to make playoffs, and that's the most important thing. We know it's going to be difficult. We know they're the current champions, so it's a tough game. They're still a good team, so we cannot go there and play just because of the stats."

Midfielder Luke Haakenson

(On expectations for the game in Colorado ...)

"Yeah, atmosphere will be tough. I know last year when we played away there and this year, fans were difficult. Loud, very loud environment, difficult to play in, but that's the kind of games that you like to play in as a player. Those are the big moments. Those are when everything's on the line and the pressure's on, so we'll be looking forward to a tough atmosphere."

(On coming off the scoreless draw...)

"I don't think it disrupted the momentum too much. I think anything but a loss is always positive because you put points on the board, so that's first and foremost, we keep pace with the guys right in front of us, so that's great, and then I think when you break down performances, it's a lot of what you saw in weeks past. I thought we dominated the ball in a great way. I thought we defended extremely well, and I think the chances that we created were two high quality chances that one hits the post and then one gets saved off the line, so if I'm looking at it objectively, we performed very well. We just didn't come out with the win, and that's soccer."

Goalkeeper Richard Sanchez

(On heading on the road the next four matches ...)

"I mean, we've done well away for sure, so we're trying to continue with that momentum, with those good results away. At the end of the day, it's another game, whether it's home or away. We're just going to try to capitalize in the best way possible, and in this case, it's going to be against Colorado, and we're going to take it game by game, so just focusing in on this weekend and making sure that we get those three points."

(On the environment in Colorado Springs ...)

"I expect an electric atmosphere with the way they do things out there in Colorado, so as a player, as a professional, that should be motivating, honestly, and yeah, with the altitude out in Colorado, it is what it is, and we just got to deal with what that adversity entails, and we got players that are fit enough to be able to run in those altitudes, so we're prepared, and we're ready for whatever has this weekend has in store."
