Monterey Bay FC News Release
ST. PETERSBURG, Florida - Monterey Bay FC (7-13-7, 28 points) embarks on its final road trip of the regular season to St. Petersburg for a pivotal 4:30 p.m. PT kickoff on Saturday against Eastern Conference side Tampa Bay Rowdies (7-13-6, 27 points) at Al Lang Stadium in Week 31 of the 2025 USL Championship regular season. Live streaming of the match will be available on ESPN+.
The stage is set for the fourth edition of the interconference Battle of the Bays this weekend between Monterey Bay and Tampa Bay, with both sides fighting for their respective playoff lives. Monterey Bay kept itself alive with three matches left to play in the regular season with its shutout win over rival Sacramento Republic FC this past weekend. With the Seasiders firmly owning the tiebreaker over Orange County and currently in possession of the tiebreaker over Colorado Springs as well, Monterey Bay suddenly finds itself in an interesting situation should the side rise above its road woes to capture its second win of the year away from home.
The Crisp-and-Kelp and the Rowdies last met in Seaside back on August 3, 2024 in a 2-2 thriller at Cardinale Stadium that saw Tristan Trager equalize for Monterey Bay in stoppage time. The contest featured Simon Dawkins' managerial debut on the touchline, his one-and-only match as a head coach before eventually transitioning to Technical Director for the club. Through three previous meetings, Tampa Bay currently owns the edge with two wins and a draw, including a 4-1 win in the only other contest at Al Lang Stadium so far.
