The Portland Winterhawks open the 2019-20 regular season schedule at home against the Tri-City Americans. Coming off a 40-win season a year ago, the Winterhawks have high hopes entering the new campaign with a younger line-up.
The Winterhawks will have the luxury of using any players on their current 25-man roster this weekend given the five Hawks have returned from NHL camps. The Winterhawks' opponent secured their first win of the season last night when they scored three third period goals to beat the Everett Silvertips 4-2. Colorado Avalanche prospect Sasha Mutala stole the show by scoring one goal and adding three primary assists in the win.
The last time these two teams met in Portland, the Winterhawks beat the Americans 4-2. This will be the first of eight meetings between these two teams.
