One More Tune-Up
And so, we've arrived at game 68/68. The playoff matchups are set for the teams that qualified, and the Winterhawks will face the Victoria Royals in round one, starting Friday at the VMC. But before the postseason party kicks off, there's one more bit of business to attend to: the final matchup against the noisy neighbors from the north.
Portland has owned Seattle this year with a 7-0-2-0 record, including a rousing 7-4 win over the T-Birds in Portland last night. But bragging rights are always on the line between these two clubs, with one team getting the last word for the season in tonight's clash. Can the Hawks go 2-for-2 over their bitter rivals this weekend?
Nate Hits 200
The newest Winterhawk is set for a milestone moment in the final game of the regular season! Nate Danielson's set to skate in WHL game #200 tonight - his 29th as a Portland skater. Drafted ninth overall by the Detroit Red Wings in last summer's NHL Draft, Danielson boasts 216 points in 199 career games thus far and has fit in perfectly with a talented Winterhawks group. The Red Deer, Alta. native is prepared for his second trip to the WHL Playoffs with an eye on a deeper run than his last, having appeared in six games with Brandon in 2022.
Congrats on 200 games, Nate!
