United on Tuesday, Aug. 8 in exchange for a partial allocation and a conditional 2007 MLS SuperDraft pick. Quaranta joined the Galaxy in Houston on the evening of Aug. 8 and made his Los Angeles debut on Wednesday, Aug. 9 when he entered the Galaxy's game vs. Houston in the 59th minute replacing Herculez Gomez. The first time Quaranta touched the ball as a member of the Galaxy, the 2001 MLS All-Star blasted a high shot over Dynamo goalkeeper Pat Onstad for his first goal with the Galaxy and the game-winning strike. It was Quaranta's first MLS goal since Sept. 10, 2005. Quaranta made his second appearance for the Galaxy on Aug. 12, coming on as a substitute in the 33rd minute against Colorado. Quaranta, 21, is already in his sixth MLS season and has appeared in 63 career MLS games, scoring 15 goals. As a 16 year old in 2001, Quaranta was the youngest player ever drafted by Major League Soccer at the time of his selection. The Baltimore, Md. native made nine appearances for the U.S. National Team in 2005, but has played in just four games for D.C. United this season, missing time with a right hamstring injury. Quaranta burst on to the MLS scene as a rookie in 2001, scoring five goals and registering one assist in 16 games en route to earning a trip to the MLS All-Star game. Limited by various injuries over his next three seasons, Quaranta appeared in 18 games in 2005 and was the third leading scorer for D.C. United, registering five goals and five assists. In 2005, Quaranta played in the Gold Cup and World Cup Qualifying matches for the U.S., registering one assist in nine games. Previously, Quaranta was a star for the U.S. Under-17 team, appearing in 32 games in 2001 and scoring 17 goals and registering 11 assists. In 2000, Quaranta trained with the Under-17 team in Bradenton, Florida.
