Bridgeview, Ill. (Monday, August 14, 2006) - In a game that originally started 12-days ago, rather where the two teams first warmed-up 12-days ago, the Kansas City Wizards fell 2-0 to the Chicago Fire in the Fourth Round of the U.S. Open Cup. Originally scheduled to be played on August 2nd, severe weather just prior to kickoff postponed the match to tonight, in turn forcing the Wizards to play what was their third match in seven days.

Chicago went up early in the 18th minute on a Calen Carr strike from Chad Barrett. And Andy Herron closed out the match for the hosts, heading home a Brian Plotkin pass in the 65th minute to make it 2-0 Fire.

Kansas City played primarily a reserve squad as it is in the midst of a streak of five games in just 11-days, the lone full-time starter in the Wizards' starting lineup was midfielder Kerry Zavagnin. All but one of KC's games during its current stretch will be or have been on the road.

The loss knocks Kansas City out of the U.S. Open Cup while it awarded Chicago the right to face the New England Revolution in the quarterfinals next Wednesday, August 23rd at Toyota Park.
