
Gadson's late game heroics help Toros beat Dakota

AUSTIN, Texas - Cheyne Gadson hit two free throws with less than four seconds left in fourth quarter to help the Austin Toros storm back from a 15-point deficit to defeat the Eastern Division leading Dakota Wizards 118-114 on Wednesday night at the Austin Convention Center.
With the win over Dakota, Austin snaps a two game losing streak and ended the Wizards four games winning streak. Both teams traded the lead back and forth in the final period but Gadson proved to be the difference in game, scoring eight of his 27 points in the period.
Troy Bell scored a team-high 31 points and nine rebounds for the Toros, who improved 17-22 on the season. Renaldo Major scored 22 points and eight rebounds for the Wizards (24-15).
Trailing by 12 points early in the first quarter, the Toros couldn't find an answer for Dakota's scoring punch of Renaldo Major and Corey Williams who each had six points in the period. Troy Bell's lay-up with 2:45 remaining cut the Dakota lead to only eight points and helped the Toros finish the quarter trailing 28-24.
Despite holding the Dakota Wizards to only 36 percent shooting for the second quarter, the Toros allowed the Wizards to push the lead back to double digits several times in the quarter. Dakota dominated Austin on the glass in the period and collected 10 offensive rebounds in the period.
The Wizards built their biggest lead of the evening in the third quarter, leading by as much as 15 points. Bell's 3-point basket tied the game at 81-81 and his driving lay-up gave the Toros their first lead of the second half at 83-81. Darius Rice made a 3-point basket with less than a second remaining to give the Wizards the 84-83 advantage to begin the fourth quarter.
Other Toros in double figures include BJ Elder (22), Kris Clack (14) and Jamar Smith (10).
