
Gaber's OT Winner Catapults Dubuque to Victory

Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release
Riese Gaber scored a minute six seconds in to overtime to propel Dubuque to their second come from behind victory of the season against the Tri-City Storm. Dubuque won the contest 2-1 after two goals in the final 12 minutes of regulation or overtime. With the win, Dubuque sweeps the season series against the Storm after being swept in the season series last year.
-Riese Gaber scored the game winner for the second time against Tri-City, notching his seventh goal of the season and his third game winner. Gaber was in a slight offensive slump heading into the contest but continues to reserve his best for the biggest moments.
-Tri-City was suffocating for the first two periods, controlling the pace, possession and chances. The Storm are among the league's best when they play their style of defensive hockey. It was on full display all night at the Mystique Ice Center.
-Erik Portillo showed up in a big way for Dubuque, stopping 24 pucks of the 25 that were thrown his way. The only puck that got past Portillo deflected off his own stick. He wasn't beaten clean on the night.
-Tri-City scored their only goal on the power play. Five on five they were the better team for close to the full sixty. Tri-City outshot Dubuque and out chanced the Saints, but Dubuque found the way to win.
-The game marked the fourth time in the last five games that Dubuque has scored two goals or less. All five games during their home stand have been one goal games. Dubuque is now 3-2 on the home stand after tonight's win.
-Dylan Jackson scored the game tying goal with just over 10 minutes left in regulation on the power play. The Saints have scored seven power play goals in the third period this season as the league's best unit continues to operate at its highest efficiency in the biggest spots. Dylan's power play goal was big for the Saints and also gave him seven goals on the season for the brief team lead until Gaber's OT winner tied Dylan at seven.
-With the win, Dubuque is off to a 9-2-1 start. It is just the third time through the first 12 games of a season in the Tier-1 era where Dubuque was won at least nine times. The Saints record remains the top mark in the league in regard to winning percentage.
-Next on the docket for Dubuque will be the Lincoln Stars who come into the Mystique Ice Center after being shut out by Cedar Rapids. That likely won't happen two nights in a row as Lincoln possesses one of the top offenses in the league.
