GREENVILLE, SC - Right fielder Jason Fitzgerald had the chance to play hero twice with two outs in the final inning as the Greenville Braves and Orlando Rays split an exciting doubleheader Saturday night at Greenville Municipal Stadium. The G-Braves won the first game 7-6 and the Rays took the nightcap 4-3 in front of 3,134 fans.

The G-Braves captured game one in dramatic fashion as they scored two runs with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Third baseman James Jurries led off with a single to center, and he was able to score on a Bill McCarthy bloop single to left-center. In game two, the G-Braves jumped out to a 2-1 first inning lead on back to back solo homeruns from Jurries and centerfielder Ryan Langerhans, but the Rays would respond in the top of the second with three runs of their own. The G-Braves were able to tack on another run in the fifth with a McCarthy RBI single, but there would be no more scoring. The home team was able to load the bases with two outs in the seventh inning, but Fitzgerald grounded out on a close play at first to end the game.

Four G-Braves had two hits apiece in the losing effort. Reliever Bartolome Fortunato (3-2) picked up the win for the Rays and G-Braves' starter Brett Evert (1-6) took the loss.
