G-Braves clinch series win, 11-7

The Lead: The Gwinnett Braves beat the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs 11-7 at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, Pennsylvania in game three of the four game series. The two teams combined for 28 hits in the game. The G-Braves scored four runs in the top of the first and never trailed in the game. With the win, the Braves have won the first three games in the series and nine of their last 11. They are now 55-58 on the season. The Iron Pigs drop to 45-69.

It Was Over When: The Braves scored four times in the first inning off of Iron Pigs starter Vance Worley. A two RBI double by Freddie Freeman and a two run homer by Wilkin Rameriz highlighted the Braves first.

Braves Beat:

On the Mound: Kenshin Kawakami gets his first Triple-A start, allowing only 1 run on 5 hits in 2.2 IP. Vladimir Nunez enters in the third, allowing 3 R/ER on 4 hits in 2.1 IP. Corey Gearrin enters in the sixth, striking out 2. Scott Proctor (3-3) pitched the eighth and got credited for the win. Stephen Marek works the ninth, striking out 2.

At the plate: Freddie Freeman has another big night, going 4-for-5 with 3 RBIs. His average is now up to .305. Wilkin Rameriz went 2-for-5 with a two run homer; Brandon Hicks went 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Matt Young was 2-for-5.

The Opposition:

On the Mound: RHP Vance Worley (0-1) is tagged with the loss. He allowed 7 R/ER on 7 hits in his 5 innings of work.

At the plate: Leadoff batter Rich Thompson was 5-for-5 with one RBI. Ozzie Chavez and Michael Rizzotti each were 2-for-5.

On Deck: The Braves and Iron Pigs play the final game of the series Sunday night at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch at 5:35 p.m. RHP Brandon Beachy (1-0, 3.60 ERA) is scheduled to start for the Braves. Lehigh Valley will start RHP Brandon Duckworth (5-3, 3.38 ERA).
