Brampton Steelheads News Release

In the seventh round of the 2014 OHL Priority Selection the Mississauga Steelheads went back to addressing the forward position by selecting Brendan Harrogate 125th overall.

The 5'10 162 lb. centreman from Chatham, Ontario spent this past season playing his minor hockey with the Chatham-Kent Cyclones of the Alliance Hockey League. In 32 regular season games with the Cyclones Brendan recorded 9 goals and 13 assists.

In the Alliance playoffs Brendan showed that he was an important piece for the Cyclones as he scored more points in the post season than he did during the regular season. His 11 goals and 12 assists helped guide the Cyclones to an appearance in the semi-finals.

Following the Alliance regular season Brendan and his Chatham-Kent teammates took part in the 2014 OHL Cup. The Cyclones finished the tournament with a spot in the semi-finals against the Toronto Marlboros, where Brendan played against fellow draftees and future teammates Michael McLeod, Kasimir Krol, and Jacob Harris. Brendan recorded 5 assists in the Cyclones' 6 OHL Cup games helping his team finish with 3 wins, 2 losses, and 1 tie.

When Brendan was selected by the Steelheads he became the third centreman selected by Mississauga in the Priority Selection behind first round selection Michael McLeod and second round selection Luke Kutkevicius.

In adding another centreman to the roster the Steelheads are addressing their need for generating more offense to help out the team's tight defensive style of hockey. Once training camp begins in the fall Brendan will be one of the many Steelheads playmakers in the middle looking to crack the roster and help light the red lamp during the 2014 OHL season.
