
Fury Uses Power Play to Defeat Stars

The Ontario Fury, Driven by Mark Christopher Chevrolet, scored three times on the power play and used a stifling defense to beat the Tacoma Stars 9-6 Friday night at Citizens Business Bank Arena.
Ontario got three goals from Juan Carlos Gonzalez and another two from Israel Sesay, as the Fury (4-3) extended a modest two-game winning streak. The Fury will play again Saturday night against the San Diego Sockers at Valley View Casino Center. Tacoma (6-4) will conclude a back-to-back in Las Vegas on Saturday night.
The Fury jumped out to a 3-0 first period lead thanks to goals from Gonzalez, the first career goal from Josh Ayers and Kiley Couch.
But Tacoma scored the next three, as Dan Antoniuk scored twice to draw the Stars even. Ontario took the lead back for good, however, as Gonzalez scored his second power play goal of the night with 4:32 remaining in the half.
Ontario was playing without captain Tiguinho, who was deactivated for the weekend due to injury, Luan Sales Oliveira and Tino Nunez, who are still listed as day-to-day.
The night started off with legendary Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda kicking the first ball, as the Fury co-hosted a CHiPs for Kids toy drive outside Citizens Business Bank Arena.
Sesay put tthe game out of reach in the third quarter, scoring back-to-back goals for Ontario. The Fury also got a four-assist night from Nelson Santana and a goal and an assist from defender Kiley Couch. Tacoma was led by Antoniuk and his two goals.
After playing Saturday night in San Diego, the Fury will be off until Jan. 6, as they will host the MIlwaukee Wave at Citizens Business Bank Arena. Tickets for the Wednesday night game are on sale now at the Citizens Business Bank Arena box office or online at AXS.com.
