Cedar Rapids Rampage News Release
Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Rampage notched their first win in franchise history as they defeated the St. Louis Ambush 9-7 in Cedar Rapids Tonight.
It was a tale of two halves as St. Louis outscored Cedar Rapids 6-2 in the first half. Three of the Ambush goals came courtesy of reigning MASL Rookie of the Year Gordy Gurson. The two Rampage goals came from defender Patrick Kelly (13:38 - Q1) and midfielder Sam Guernsey (00:09 - Q2).
After a slow third quarter, the Rampage began their comeback on three goals within forty one seconds from forward Alex Megson. Defenders Alex Tozer recorded his first career goal while Cedar Rapids' captain Chile Farias added two to secure the win for the Rampage. The only goal for St. Louis in the second half was a power play goal from Richard Schmermund in the ninth minute of the third quarter.
The Rampage head to Detroit, Michigan next Saturday, December 26 to take on the Waza Flo. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Eastern.
