Cedar Rapids Rampage News Release
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA - Cedar Rapids Rampage goalkeeper Rainer Hauss and forward Mohamed Kenawy received plaudits today when the Major Arena Soccer League unveiled its All-Rookie Team and All-Rookie Honorable Mention.
Hauss was the top-voted rookie goalkeeper after taking over the Rampage starting job on December 22 and leading the Rampage to the first playoff berth in team history. Hauss, one of the league's older rookies at 29, finished the regular season with a 6-6 record and 5.72 GAA. He finished 9th in the MASL in GAA, and was 4th with a .728 save percentage.
"I'm really happy to be named to the MASL All-Rookie Team," said Hauss. "I'd like to thank my wife, my teammates, the owners, and the fans for all the support and for believing in me. I kept working hard to be prepared for an opportunity that presented itself. I hope I can keep working hard and progressing to help my team to the playoffs again next year."
Kenawy, the youngest player on the Rampage at 21, played in 18 games and scored eight goals, while adding five assists. "It was a great season I think for the Rampage and I, going through what we went through and sticking together. Overall I couldn't be happier. I'm going to try and improve in the off season and I look forward to playing next season."
Overlooked by voters, but no less worthy, was forward Alex Bradley. Bradley, 25, finished with 10 goals and nine assists in 15 games, including a hat trick on December 3. His 19 points put him second on the Rampage in scoring.
"I'm very proud of all three players," said Rampage General Manager Chris Kokalis. "Rainer, in particular, stepped in after waiting for his chance for the past two years. These guys have a bright future ahead of them in the MASL. Alex and Mo really adapted well to the indoor game and were a big part of our success in making it to the post season."
