Fury end Mechanics' streak

Fraser, MI – The Motor City Mechanics out shot the number one team in the UHL tonight, 41-23, before suffering their first loss in six games at the hands of the Muskegon Fury. Jeff Nelson and Brant Blackned each scored two goals in the Fury's 5-2 victory.

Scott Hollis put the Fury on the board early when he found the back of the net just 36 seconds into the opening frame. The Mechanics answered on a goal by Sean Avery 3:13 into the period. Chris Gignac struck on the power play to give Motor City a 2-1 lead late in the period.

Muskegon opened the scoring in the second frame, tying the game at two when Brant Blackned scored. The Fury took over on a power play goal at 18:53 of the second by Jeff Nelson. Muskegon netted two more in the third period, for the 5-2 win

The Mechanics hit the road on Wednesday for four road games beginning with the Flint Generals. Friday, Saturday and Sunday Motor City will continue their drive at making the playoffs in Adirondack, Danbury and Elmira. Motor City hockey returns to the Garage on March 30th against the Flint Generals. The Mechanics final six home games of the season are March 30th, April 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 6th.
