Amarillo Dillas News Release

AMARILLO, TX - A solid pitching performance from Amarillo Dillas starter Dustin Taylor, three double plays and a little help from the weather as the Dillas defeated the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings 2-0 in five innings in front of 2,232 fans.

Taylor (1-1) got his first Amarillo win, going all five innings and allowing only eight hits, walking none and adding a strikeout. Rio Grande Valley starter Sendy Vasquez (0-1) also went five innings, allowing both Amarillo runs and seven hits.

Amarillo got on the board first in the first inning with a double steal by Terrance McClain and Andrew Wong. McClain would come across the plate later in the inning off a Trent Lockwood single to give the Dillas a 2-0 lead.

That was all Taylor would need as the Dillas turned three double plays and had the first errorless game since the opening game of the season against San Angelo.

Despite playing part of the sixth inning, severe weather put a stop to the game, which reverts back to the end of the fifth inning, leading to a 2-0 win for Amarillo.

With the win, the Dillas improve to 3-4, while the Whitewings fall to 4-3. Thursday, Amarillo will host Rio Grande Valley for the final game of a four-game series at 7:05pm with Dillas Pre-Game set to begin at 6:50pm online via AudioSportsOnline.com. Game time is tentative and is subject to blackout.
