Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings News Release

Amarillo - In a game that lasted five innings due to severe thunderstorms in the area, the Amarillo Dillas (3-4) beat the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings (4-3) 2-0 tonight at Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa.

The Dillas got on the board against Sendy Vasquez (0-2) in the first. With one out, Andrew Wong singled. With two outs, Terrance McClain walked. Wong moved to third on a wild pick-off attempt by WhiteWings catcher Danny Etkin. A double-steal allowed Wong to score and put McClain in scoring position. He scored on a Trent Lockwood single to make it 2-0.

Vasquez allowed seven hits while striking out three and allowing four walks in five innings.

Dustin Taylor (1-1) picks up a complete game shutout after allowing seven hits and striking out two. He did not walk anyone. Taylor picked off one batter and got WhiteWings hitters to ground into inning-ending double-plays in the first, third and fourth innings.

The WhiteWings and Dillas play game four of this four-game series tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. at Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa. Right-hander Juan Peralta (0-0) will face right-hander Josh Smith (0-1).

The WhiteWings are members of United League Baseball, an independent league of six professional baseball teams located in Texas. In its fourth season, the United League is in the midst for a great summer with teams located in Amarillo, Edinburg, Coastal Bend, Laredo, Harlingen and San Angelo.
